AI safety for kids
Friday’s safeguards, family controls and the limits parents should understand.
Age-aware teaching
Friday shares teaching and safety instructions across text, pictures and voice. Additional request checks block some unsafe requests and prioritize supportive responses to danger disclosures. No automated safeguard is perfect.
Keep private details private
Use nicknames. Do not share addresses, school names, passwords or identifying photos. Some volunteered details are redacted, but redaction can miss information.
Tell a safe grown-up
If an answer is upsetting or incorrect, stop and tell an adult. Use “Something felt wrong” to save a report. A receipt does not mean a staffed team is watching in real time.
Not an emergency service
Friday cannot contact anyone for a child. Immediate danger needs a safe adult or local emergency help.
Parent controls
Parents can withdraw new learning permission, separately disable voice, inspect history and delete active records. Provider logs and backups have separate, unverified retention.
